Adaptive schemes for location update generation in execution location - dependent continuous queries q
نویسنده
چکیده
An important feature that is expected to be owned by today s mobile computing systems is the ability of processing locationdependent continuous queries on moving objects. The result of a location-dependent query depends on the current location of the mobile client which has generated the query as well as the locations of the moving objects on which the query has been issued. When a location-dependent query is specified to be continuous, the result of the query can continuously change. In order to provide accurate and timely query results to a client, the location of the client as well as the locations of moving objects in the system has to be closely monitored. Most of the location generation methods proposed in the literature aim to optimize utilization of the limited wireless bandwidth. The issues of correctness and timeliness of query results reported to clients have been largely ignored. In this paper, we propose an adaptive monitoring method (AMM) and a deadline-driven method (DDM) for managing the locations of moving objects. The aim of our methods is to generate location updates with the consideration of maintaining the correctness of query evaluation results without increasing location update workload. Extensive simulation experiments have been conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed methods as compared to a well-known location update generation method, the plain deadreckoning (pdr). 2005 Elsevier Inc. متن کاملAn efficient location update mechanism for continuous queries over moving objects
In a moving-object database system that supports continuous queries (CQ), an important problem is to keep the location data consistent with the actual locations of the entities being monitored, in order to produce correct query results. This goal is often difficult to achieve due to limited network resources. However, if an object is not required by any query, its value need not be refreshed. B...
متن کاملPerformance evaluation of location update schemes for MANET
In this paper, we have developed an analytical model to evaluate the performance of home agent, quorum based, and grid location service update schemes using Markov chain. The model evaluates the performance in terms of the cost of updates and queries. The cost of updates is computed in terms of the hops used in updating a location. The model also considers selective queries for destination sear...
متن کاملProbabilistic Continuous Update Scheme in Location Dependent Continuous Queries
It is difficult to maintain the exact location of mobile objects due to the limited resources in a mobile network. A consequence of this problem is that the update cost for a location-dependent continuous query for moving objects can be quite high using traditional methods. In this paper, we propose a probabilistic update method to maintain the fidelity of the query results without incurring si...
متن کاملAn Enhanced Safe Region Technique for Continuous Queries over Moving Objects
Continuous spatial queries retrieve a set of time-varying objects continuously during a given period of time. However, monitoring moving objects to maintain the correctness of the query results often incurs frequent location updates from these moving objects. To address this problem, existing solutions propose lazy updates, but such techniques generally avoid only a small fraction of all unnece...
